Who is Giorgi Tsitaishvili?

Nonetheless, there's another Georgian that fans will need to get familiar with: Giorgi Tsitaishvili. The 24-year-old is joining FC Metz for the 2025-26 season, and Les Grenats could be the place where he finally settles in for the long term.

Since 2022, Tsitaishvili has been loaned out to several clubs, including Wisła Kraków, Lech Poznań, Dinamo Batumi, and most recently, Granada. During his time with the La Liga team, he played in 39 total matches, scoring seven goals and adding four assists.

Metz hopes Tsitaishvili can build on last season’s performance to help the team stay in Ligue 1 McDonald’s past this upcoming season, following their promotion from Ligue 2 BKT.

If there's a club in France's top flight that can get the most out of Tsitaishvili, it's Metz, as they played a role in Mikautadze blooming into a quality player, leading to his move to Olympique Lyonnais. Moreover, Mikautadze played a role in the winger's arrival at Metz as Tsitaishvili said while talking to the club's official website.

Tsitaishvili will look to follow in the steps of Mikautadze, Davitashvili, and Kvaratskhelia. During their time in Ligue 1 McDonald's Mikautadze has scored 24 goals and recorded 10 assists in 56 matches while Davitashvili has registered nine goals and eight assists in 33 fixtures in France's top flight.

As for Kvaratskhelia, it's a smaller sample size, but the Paris Saint-Germain standout scored four goals and racked up three assists in 14 league matches. Tsitaishvili should have a boost in confidence in seeing several Georgian players find success in Ligue 1 McDonald's, so he'll be a newcomer to follow.
