There's no better place to start than with Sunday's goal. Nantes had been playing for more than 40 minutes against ten men, but were no closer to a goal, and Patrik Carlgren had to be sharp to keep out efforts from Amine Gouiri and Ludovic Blas. Receiving the ball on the left flank, Simon jinked his way past Rennes defender Lorenz Assignon into the box before arrowing the ball into the opposite corner.

That's not to say that Simon is only a goalscorer -- he has also racked up 36 assists since arriving in France, and few are as sweet as this bit of skill and cross for Florent Mollet in another derby, against FC Lorient last season.

Simon helped put second-tier side Paris FC to the sword in the Coupe de la Ligue in his first season, scoring an impressive hat trick in the process. Netting with a variety of finishes, he showed his skill as a consummate all-around player and helped endear himself to fans of Les Canaris.

Simon's first goal for the club after arriving as a relatively unheralded player from Levante that summer may look simple but looks can be deceiving. Getting on the end of a through ball from Andrei Girotto, Simon slotted the ball past Amiens 'keeper Régis Gurtner with one audacious touch, writing the first chapter in what has been an impressive spell in Ligue 1.
